Our Journey
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Rick knows this town, finance, and restaurants. Starting his career as a bookkeeping assistant for his mom, Rick then moved to an entertainment business management firm, and eventually started his own company—Division Business Management. DBM provides business management services to the restaurant and cannabis industries. He has worked with many well- known restaurants including Rose Café in Venice, Huckleberry, Sweet Rose Creamery, Bestia and more, but has also worked to turn flailing establishments into successful restaurants once again. After years of restaurant business management Rick decided to try his hand at his own concept and came up with Nuts & Bolts!
While the Nuts & Bolts story is just beginning it is already comprised of some great elements. Between Rick modeling the idea off of mini donuts his grandmother used to make for him when he was a kid, to originally believing it would be a brick and mortar in Long Beach then pivoting during the pandemic to make it a delivery concept. And lastly, he went from believing he would partner with a chef to deciding to create the recipes, menu and everything himself!
Rick understands that Los Angeles is the mecca of donut shops and thinks it’s awesome that there’s an array of options but he felt that something was missing. In a world of bacon covered, gluten free, keto (who knows what else?) a simple donut didn’t exist. Meaning traditional flavors aren’t offered in their truest forms. Rather than a commercial glaze or icing everything is made from scratch and uses no more than 5 ingredients! This is all part of our motto “Perfecting the Basics”
